It worked before – what happened?
Whew. I did this awhile back and had no problems. I failed to make any notes and, wow – that was a mistake. Trying it again, this evening, I ended up messing around with the thing for about three hours to get it to work. Anyway, here’s what I’d done previously:
- I made an .ISO file from a USB installer, as I recall, using something called AnyToISO.
- The USB installer I was working with had been created with Rufus with the instructions to skip checking for compatability.
Why it didn’t work, tonight
Okay…I do not recall having to do this, previously. I had to go to the advanced settings and boot the VMware machine using BIOS, not UEFI. It booted, but, interestingly the install routine skipped the normal GUI at the beginning which allows you to choose from various installations (Enterprise, Pro, etc.). It installed the Pro version and I could care less.
Randomly, make sure the machine is set to use two cores of the processor and about eight gig of RAM.
